RECYCLED HIGH DENSITY
POLYETHYLENE (R-HDPE)

High-density polyethylene made from recycled materials (R-HDPE) is structurally similar to conventional polyethylene and has the same properties. Food-grade recycled HDPE is obtained from a post-consumer product stream with a well-defined origin: unused or used damaged food containers. These products then undergo various treatments: cleaning, sorting, grinding, washing, drying, etc. This ground material is then extruded to homogenise it and optimise its properties before being delivered in granules.

The recycled HDPE we use has been subjected to a special control system, approved by the EFSA (European Food Safety Authority). This ensures the conformity of the origin of inputs (EC regulation 282/2008) and traceability throughout the R-PEHD production process. We have the guarantee that only containers suitable for food contact and meeting all the requirements of food safety standards have been used (see EFSA notice) and that the final material’s suitability for food contact is checked.

To clearly distinguish recycled HDPE containers, we have chosen to only market them in dark green.

Like all plastics we use in our containers, recycled high-density polyethylene is a food-grade, odourless, and 100% recyclable thermoplastic polymer.
